Jacques Emile Blanche

Jacques-Émile Blanche (1861-1942) was a distinguished French portrait painter active during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Though largely self-taught, Blanche became highly sought after by the upper classes in both Paris and London. His cosmopolitan circle of clients included writers, musicians, artists, and socialites, which solidified his standing within the elite circles of his era.

Blanche gained particular acclaim for his lush and expressive brushstrokes, as well as for his skill in conveying both the likeness and the psychological depth of his sitters.
