Cornelis Pronk

Cornelis Pronk (10 December 1691 – 28 or 29 September 1759), also referred to as Cornelis Pronck, was a distinguished Dutch draughtsman, painter, and designer of porcelain. Active during the 18th century, Pronk played a significant role in the Netherlands' artistic landscape, particularly noted for his meticulously detailed and precise works.

He is especially renowned for his topographical drawings, which depict cities, towns, and prominent buildings throughout the Dutch Republic with remarkable detail. These illustrations provide important historical perspectives on the architecture and urban settings of his time. Pronk's sharp observational skills and mastery of technique enabled him to portray scenes with outstanding clarity and precision.

Beyond his achievements as a draughtsman, Cornelis Pronk is also recognized for his distinctive porcelain designs. His patterns and motifs, commissioned by the Dutch East India Company, were later manufactured in China and Japan. Collectors highly value these "Pronk plates," which are regarded as some of the best examples of artistic collaboration between cultures during the 18th century.
