Hablot Knight Browne (10 July 1815 – 8 July 1882) was a distinguished English illustrator and artist, acclaimed for his notable impact on Victorian literature. Under the pseudonym Phiz, he produced some of the period’s most iconic illustrations.

Browne gained particular fame through his enduring association with Charles Dickens. He provided illustrations for several of Dickens's most famous works, including "David Copperfield," "Bleak House," and "Dombey and Son." His illustrations were essential in animating Dickens's characters and environments for the readership.

Beyond his work with Dickens, Browne also created illustrations for books by other prominent writers such as Charles Lever and Harrison Ainsworth. His richly detailed and expressive engravings were widely admired, establishing a high benchmark for 19th-century book illustration.

Through his creative talents, Hablot Knight Browne—known as Phiz—made a permanent mark in the field of illustration.
