Giuseppe Canella (28 July 1788 – 11 September 1847), often referred to as Giuseppe Canella the Elder, was an Italian painter who achieved significant acclaim in the 19th century. Born in Verona, Italy, he grew up in a family devoted to the arts, which gave him early and direct access to painting and the visual arts.

Canella gained particular fame for his landscapes and urban scenes, known as vedute. He created highly detailed and atmospheric cityscapes, illustrating locations from various Italian cities such as Venice, Milan, and Verona. His masterful use of light and careful attention to architectural features made his paintings highly prized, both within Italy and internationally.

Throughout his career, Canella traveled widely, spending time in France and Spain, where the architecture and lively streets served as inspiration for his art.
