Jindřich Tomec, born on September 13, 1863, in Prague, died on July 12, 1928, in Vienna. His life and professional path were deeply intertwined with the artistic and theatrical circles of Central Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

He embarked on his artistic path early, beginning to paint at the age of fourteen. Tomec worked as an assistant to H. Ullik, taking part in painting scenery for Czech theater stages—an early experience that established his connection to the realm of theatrical art.

From 1887 to 1892, Tomec resided and was active in Vienna, which at the time stood among Europe’s most significant cultural capitals. There, he refined his abilities in the studio of J.V. Kautsky, the esteemed court painter of theater decorations. He also pursued studies in landscape painting at the Vienna Academy with E. Lichtenfels, further enhancing his artistic skillset during this period.
