Jan van de Cappelle stood out during the Dutch Golden Age, gaining prominence for his exceptional seascapes and winter landscapes. Hailing from Amsterdam, where he spent his life, he became famous for his ability to convey the tranquil and atmospheric aspects of water and sky, frequently illustrating peaceful river scenes marked by carefully crafted reflections and subtle shifts in tone.
