Arthur Rackham

Arthuras Rackhamas (g. 1867 m. rugsėjo 19 d. – m. 1939 m. rugsėjo 6 d.) buvo vienas iš žymiausių knygų iliustratorių Didžiojoje Britanijoje. Jo unikalios iliustracijos išsiskyrė subtiliomis linijomis, gausiomis detalėmis ir mistišku, neretai fantastiniu pasaulio vaizdavimu. Rackhamo kūrybą iki šiol vertina dėl jose glūdinčio meniškumo ir įtakos, padarytos kitų iliustratorių darbams.

Per visą savo kūrybinio darbo laikotarpį Rackhamas iliustravo daugelį žymių literatūros kūrinių: tarp jų – pasakas, klasikinius romanus ir legendas. Tarp reikšmingiausių jo darbų minėtini J. M. Barrie „Piteris Penas Kensingtono parke“, Lewis Carroll „Alisa stebuklų šalyje“ bei brolių Grimų pasakos. Rackhamo iliustracijos neretai pasižymi tamsesniais, paslaptingais tonais ir išradingais personažais.

Rackhamas buvo viena ryškiausių vadinamojo „Auksinio iliustracijų amžiaus“ asmenybių – tuo metu knygų iliustravimas pasiekė aukščiausią meninį lygį ir tapo neatsiejama leidinių dalimi. Jo kūriniai buvo leidžiami pasitelkiant pažangias spaudos technologijas, todėl galima buvo itin tiksliai atkurti visas iliustracijų detales ir spalvas.

Arthuras Rackhamas iki mūsų dienų išlieka vienu didžiausių britų iliustracijos autoritetų, o jo darbai ir toliau įkvepia tiek profesionalius menininkus, tiek knygų mylėtojus visame pasaulyje. Daugybė jo iliustruotų knygų laikomos kolekcinėmis ir vertinamos už ypatingą indėlį į vaikų ir fantastinės literatūros meno pasaulį.
